Les Balades Musicales is an annual classical music festival in France. Featuring some of the best musicians from all over the world to perform in front of the small population of the village of Combret. 2017 was their 10th anniversary and they wanted to celebrate the occasion by bringing us to create a documentary on the history of the festival.
This project provided an interesting challenge. Most of the locas didn’t speak English and were vital to telling the story of the town and the festival. Luckily we were able to arrange a translator to give us full access to the wealth of stories this scenic village had to offer.
“Scenic” is a term used lightly here as the village is built into the rolling hills of Averyon in the South of France. Using a drone we were able to get some breathtaking shots to really showcase this incredible location. Over the four days we interviewed many of the locals, organisers and musicians. This event had the incredible ability to unite people from all across the village to soak in the joy of classical music.
